Members of the new Legislative Council will take the oath at 11 a.m. next Monday (January 3), and the oath will be supervised by the Chief Executive, Carrie Lam.

The time limit for the nomination of the chairperson will end in the afternoon of next Tuesday (4th), and a new chairperson will be elected on January 10.

The first introduction of the prelude to singing the national anthem arrangement

According to the Legislative Council document, the national anthem will be played and sung first at the meeting. The elected members stand up to the national flag and the regional flag and sing the national anthem together, and then go to the stage one by one to swear the national anthem.

The order of oaths is determined according to the seniority of the members. If the seniority is the same, it will be sorted according to the strokes of the Chinese name.

According to the document, Zhang Yuren, who has served as a member of Parliament since 2000, will take the oath first, followed by Lin Jianfeng and Liang Junyan, who have been re-elected since 2004. Yan Gang of the election committee will finally take the oath.

It should be noted that the last legislative council oath ceremony did not perform the national anthem. As the National Anthem Ordinance came into effect last year, the national anthem must be sung in the swearing ceremony of the Legislative Council's oath, so this is a new addition to this session.

The seating table for the oath ceremony is arranged according to the seniority and name of the members.
