Hearing this Wednesday by the law committee of the National Assembly on the subject of the bill, the Minister of Health acknowledged that this new measure would not convince the skeptics.

Olivier Véran was auditioned this afternoon by the deputies of the law committee on the subject of the bill on the vaccine pass.

Initially planned for application at the end of January, this text which plans to transform the health pass into a vaccination pass is examined by the law commission at the Palais Bourbon on Wednesday.

It will then be discussed in the hemicycle of the Palais Bourbon from Monday and in the Senate from Wednesday January 5 for an entry into force scheduled for January 15.

The hearing began with a word from Yaël Braun-Pivet, MP (LREM) for Yvelines and president of the law committee, who first condemned the threats received by the deputies before the vote on this bill.

After reading one of those letters aloud, she added: "

We are here to debate, to express opposing opinions, but with respect for each other, threats have nothing to do in space. public.

"

The minister then announced more than 200,000 contaminations in the past 24 hours.

A million people are currently infected and around 10% of French people are now contact cases of a person who has tested positive.

"

I would no longer speak of a wave about Omicron, I would speak of a tidal wave, and even, given the figures, of a tidal wave

" declared the Minister of Health in particular.

He also said that 70% of patients currently hospitalized in Paris had not received the vaccine.

"

There is little chance that you will pass between the drops

" he launched to the address of the unvaccinated French.

Pressing the indifferent rather than convincing the skeptics

The minister detailed what was, according to him, the typology of non-vaccinated people in France. First, the French "

who are far from everything

", like many elderly people. For them, the most important thing is to continue information campaigns with a strong presence on the ground, according to the minister. Then, people irreducibly "

suspicious

" about vaccination and for whom even the vaccination pass may not be enough, according to Olivier Véran, who regrets "

a form of delirium

". There remains a third category, people "

more or less indifferent

" to vaccination, "

often young people

" saying to themselves "

I have no time, I live my life.

", According to the minister.

The vaccination pass therefore aims "

to squeeze the indifferent unvaccinated rather than to convince the skeptics

".

Given the magnitude of this fifth wave, Olivier Véran declared defending a bill "

He also specified that this pass will not be required "

to go to the hospital or to an nursing home

" so as not to "

".

The LR group will not oppose the text

"

We will not oppose the vaccination pass

," said MP Ian Boucard on behalf of the LR parliamentary group. He nevertheless specified that the opposition will present several amendments, in particular with a view to reserving the vaccination pass for adults and to limit its introduction in time. The deputy also indicated that his group wishes to reserve the control of this pass for the police.

Olivier Véran, recalling the opposition of the social partners, also reiterated that the vaccination pass will not be required in the workplace. Regarding a "

pass 2G +

" (adding the requirement of a negative test in addition to a complete vaccination schedule, as in Germany), the minister said that the question was legitimate but that it did not require a law and that the decision could possibly be taken at a later date.

Regarding the gauges (which will not be imposed at political meetings for the time being), the minister stressed that there was "

no will of the government to make double weights, two measures.

It is a constitutional issue that is difficult to circumvent.

"In addition, after recalling that"

the elections will be held on time and in safety in the best possible conditions

", Olivier Véran considered to be"

rather favorable

"to an amendment authorizing the organizers of these meetings who want the pass sanitary.
