So that Otterfing stays fluid: Not far from the two previous drinking water wells, a third shaft is currently being dug west of Palnkam.

The well should be connected to the grid next year.

Water, wind and road renovation will have a major impact on Otterfinger's municipal policy next year.

Breakthroughs in two long-running hits are hardly to be expected - the future of sports facilities and the construction of a multi-generation house.

An outlook on community projects that will become important in 2022.

Otterfing

- The pandemic has blocked some inflows in Otterfinger's municipal finances.

"We had significant losses in tax revenue," says Mayor Michael Falkenhahn (SPD).

And the valley has not yet been crossed.

Also in the new year, the town hall chief fears corona effects that hit the office.

In financial terms, Falkenhahn expects a very tight year, which limits the scope for investment: "2022 will be a year of completion and implementation, not a year of beginning."

Wind turbine

The municipality hopes to bring its most spectacular project of recent years to its destination in 2022: building applications will be submitted for the wind farm in the Hofoldinger Forest.

The three “citizens' wind turbines” - each with a wind turbine on Otterfinger, Sauerlacher and Ayinger Flur - could then be built in 2023.

Estimated cost: 18 million euros.

The three municipalities are currently bundling their commitment in a Windkraft Hofoldinger Forst GmbH.

"In parallel to the approval process, we will be soliciting offers from wind turbine manufacturers next year," announced Falkenhahn, "such a wind turbine is not off the shelf." During the course of the year, it should also be clear how the Otterfinger can participate in the wind turbine.

New fountain

In another forest, work is currently underway to ensure that Otterfing remains fluid. A specialist company is digging a third drinking water well west of Palnkam. In the coming year, the first cubic meter will swell up there from a depth of 110 meters. "A very significant improvement in security of supply," says the mayor. At the same time, the high-pressure ring in the municipal water network should close.

The new water pipeline from Bergham to Wettlkam is not quite finished yet.

The favorable directional drilling method that the municipality used at the end passages worked in principle, but in Bergham was partially stuck in the gravel-heavy subsoil.

"Now we unfortunately have to tear open a few meters of the road," says Falkenhahn.

In total, the municipality is investing up to three million euros in the expansion of the water supply.

The drilling alone costs almost 540,000 euros.

Road to Wettlkam

The renovation of the Bergham-Wettlkam municipal road (1.66 kilometers) has been on the municipality's to-do list for decades.

So far there have been problems in acquiring the necessary strips of land.

That has now been successful, says Falkenhahn.

A roadway width of 4.75 meters is planned;

two passing points facilitate the oncoming traffic.

The municipality expects costs of around one million euros - but is still waiting for the funding decision from the government of Upper Bavaria.

“We need to know what exactly is being subsidized.

Only then can we put the work out to tender, ”says the town hall chief.

It should definitely be built in 2022.

Sports facilities

It has recently become quiet about an exciting topic of the past few years: What will become of the old sports center?

A resolution by the old municipal council provides for a gymnasium to be built on the area of the skater area.

"The topic has not been shelved," says Falkenhahn, "but there has been a certain standstill, I admit that." For the coming year, it is "cautiously optimistic" that there will be some progress in planning.

There is currently no money to build the gym.

"The water supply has priority," emphasizes Falkenhahn, "on the side we cannot handle another major project."

Multi-generation construction

The multi-generational living project is taking an unusual route.

While it is still unclear what exactly and where exactly the community wants to build, staff are already being hired: a district manager will start work in January.

"He or she should organize events and help us to clarify how many senior citizens and how many young people are interested in such forms of living," says Falkenhahn.

The part-time position is largely financed for four years from the state funding program “Self-determined living in old age”.

The community-owned Thomawiese could be considered as the building site for the communal housing project.

“But we are not finally determined,” says Falkenhahn.
