Ninth graders at a Nuremberg grammar school asked Joachim Ficker, the well-known chief physician at the Nuremberg Clinic, questions about the vaccination.

The medic explains.

Nuremberg - Joachim Ficker, chief physician at the Nuremberg Clinic, attended a ninth grade at the Melanchthon grammar school.

There he answered the pupils' questions about vaccination briefly and clearly.

The Bavarian State Ministry for Health and Care published a summary of the conversation on its YouTube channel yesterday, Tuesday (December 28).

It was about Long-Covid, side effects of vaccinations and pregnancy.

Corona: does vaccination protect against long covid?

Joachim Ficker: “The vaccination protects against a severe course.

We know that people who have severe corona disease can also get Long Covid.

Fatigue is a long-term consequence of Corona.

This is a special kind of tiredness, exhaustion and mental lack of energy. "

Long-Covid

Physical discomfort can occur weeks and even months after being infected with the coronavirus.

These long-term consequences of corona disease are known as long covid.

"The long-term health effects of Covid-19 include impairments of physical and mental health as well as restrictions in functionality and quality of life," says the website of the Federal Center for Health Education.

Symptoms also include concentration and memory problems, headaches, breathing difficulties, odor and taste disorders, muscle weakness and pain, depressive moods, as well as sleep and anxiety disorders, hair loss, chest pain, palpitations and heart palpitations.

In contrast to those infected with corona, people who suffer from Long Covid are no longer contagious.

Does the corona vaccination have any side effects?

Joachim Ficker: “Very rarely there is an inflammation of the heart muscle.

Rather, there are no real side effects.

Everything else is vaccine reactions, which are always more harmless than the real infection with the coronavirus.

We can either protect ourselves and vaccinate ourselves or we will get the infection sooner or later.

As an unvaccinated person, I will eventually have the infection.

You have to consider that. "

"Long-term side effects" of Covid-19 vaccinations

Side effects that occur unexpectedly and only a long time - i.e. several years - after the vaccination are extremely unlikely, according to the Federal Center for Health Education.

So far, no long-term side effects have generally been found with vaccinations, which is therefore not to be expected with the COVID-19 vaccines.

Can the corona vaccination make you sterile?

Joachim Ficker: “The rumor that as a woman you don't have any children or healthy children is absolute bullshit.

There was never a clear explanation for it.

Hundreds of thousands of healthy children from vaccinated mothers have now also been born.

That never had a good theoretical basis and everyday life has long since revised it. "

Vaccination during pregnancy

The STIKO generally rated the Covid 19 vaccination for pregnant women as safe and effective and made a vaccination recommendation for pregnant women from the 2nd trimester (13th to 27th week of pregnancy).

The STIKO also advises women who might want to have children to have a corona vaccination, as this provides very good protection against coronavirus disease before the onset of pregnancy.

The chief gynecologist at the Miesbach hospital expressly advises pregnant women and women who want to have children to have a vaccination, as the risk of premature birth could double in infected pregnant women.

Some do not feel anything after the corona vaccination.

Others lay flat for two days.
