The parents in the Würmtal are individualists when it comes to choosing their children's first names.
Classics like Sophia, Johanna, Max and Jonas have nevertheless emerged as favorites.
Würmtal
- men, watch out: the reinforcements are here.
In 2021, significantly more newborn boys than girls were registered in the Würmtal.
This means that after two years there is finally a balance between the sexes.
In 2019, so many girls were born to the Würmtalern that in 2020 the surplus could not be ironed out, even though more boys than girls were born in the region.
But in 2021 more boys (260) than girls (214) were registered in the Würmtal.
Now the relationship is right again.
Neurieder fall out of line
The Graefelfinger (55 boys: 34 girls), the Gautinger (81:73), the Kraillinger (41:34) and the Planegger (54:41) made up for the balance.
The Neurieder swam against the current in 2021 and had slightly more girls (32) than boys (29).
The total number of newborns registered in the Würmtal is 474, which is exactly the same as in 2019. Last year it was 425.
Four home births
In 2021 there will even be some real Würmtaler, because there were four home births: one in Planegg, one in Graefelfing and two (boys) in Neuried.
The Neurieder stand out again and again in the evaluation of the statistics, also when it comes to the choice of first names.
Unusual names were not there in 2021, according to the residents' registration office.
But Neuried's parents gave the rare name Anastasia twice - so there were just as many Anastasias in Neuried as Emmas, Annas and Sofias / Sophias.
The latter, i.e. Sophia, also made it to the top of the list of the most popular names in Krailling, making it one of the favorites in the Würmtal in 2021.
But more than four children were not given this name in the Würmtal this year.
The names Johanna, Max and Jonas were also given four times each.
In future there will be three children named Valentin in Graefelfing alone.
And those were all favorites.
Exotic names
Most children in the Würmtal will not come across namesakes in the playground.
In Planegg, for example, two Louisas have been added this year.
"All other names are only available once," says community spokeswoman Kiki Xander.
“There are a lot of exotic names among them.” Her list this year looks very international.
For reasons of data protection, however, it did not give any exotic prices.
Other churches handle this differently.
In Gauting this year, Ifigeneia, Sidney, Merlin and Matija were among the newborns.
In Krailling Diell (male) Ije (female), Ylli (male) and Liara (female).
The Würmtal shows diversity.
