Defense Minister Bnei Gantz this week signed an order for the seizure of cryptocurrencies in the amount of NIS 2.6 million from the al-Mathadun exchange company, which is linked to Hamas in the Gaza Strip. This is what Israel Today has learned.
This is the broadest order in this area, and according to security sources, it is one of the most significant asset seizures in recent years, which also hurts a real damage to the exchange company.
The move follows a seizure order for digital wallets, which Gantz signed a few months ago.
Following the order, about 150 digital wallets of al-Mathaddon, belonging to the Gazan Malach family, were seized at the time.
The company is working to transfer money to Hamas, and according to what is known to the defense establishment, it even increased its activities after in May 2019 the IDF eliminated a terrorist named Hamed Ahmad Khodri, also a money changer.

The economic infrastructure of the Shmalach family was revealed in the joint activities of the IDF Intelligence Division, the National Counter-Terrorism Headquarters (Ministry of Defense) at the Ministry of Defense, the National Cyber Unit at Lahav 433 in the Israel Police and the Cyber Department of the State Attorney's Office.
Hamas operates an infrastructure of money changers, merchants and companies, which import goods into the Gaza Strip and bring money into the Gaza Strip to finance the organization's military installations.
Prominent among these companies is Shmalach's exchange company, which transfers millions of dollars a year to Hamas, and the military arm in particular.
Due to the significant assistance to Hamas, a terrorist organization was also declared earlier this year.
