At the height of a white night in the Knesset, the opposition managed to overthrow tonight (Thursday) one of the laws led by the coalition last week in the Knesset. MK Gadi Yabarkan of the Likud hid in the back seat of MK Yoav Kish's car in the Knesset parking lot, and just before the law went to a vote, he arrived at the plenum to participate. The proposal that came up for a vote is amendments to legislation to implement the economic policy for the 2017 and 2018 budget years, and it fell in the draw of 48 MKs who supported it compared to 48 MKs who opposed it. After the loss, the coalition withdrew two laws and did not vote on them as planned for fear of further losses.

Prior to the vote, there were claims in the opposition that the coalition's chairman, MK Idit Silman, "lied", in their words, and led to a breach of offset by MK Alex Kushiner from Yisrael Beiteinu with MK Etty Atia from the Likud whose father died last night, and still lost the vote . MK Kish tweeted in response that "they ate the stinking fish and were expelled from the city."

Even before the sudden arrival of MK Yabarkan, the coalition realized that they did not have a majority because they did not coordinate with the offsets they closed with the opposition. In the middle of the night from their homes, some from Tel Aviv, but in the end the coalition lost.

This is a bill that aims to extend by one year the transitional provision set forth in the Arrangements Law for 2017 2018. The amendment to the Broadcasting Law stipulates that content providers that are platforms for distributing broadcasts on the Internet can receive free broadcasts of certain TV channels distributed in the "Idan Plus" system.

As part of this amendment, a transitional provision was enacted that is due to expire on January 1, 2022, which stipulates that during the transition period, some of the broadcasters in the "Idan Plus" network - which are network TV channels, Keshet and the Public Broadcasting Corporation - may charge Internet content providers. Which is paid to the copyright holders and broadcasters, in accordance with the agreements signed before the amendment enters into force.

Now, the coalition will have to advance the entire legislative process.
