With a little delay, the lower number of corona cases also ensures some relaxation in the Ebersberg intensive care unit.

The vaccination also continues to play an important role, says the chief doctor.

Ebersberg

- Exactly two weeks ago to the day, the Ebersberg district clinic reported nine corona intensive care patients.

Now the pressure from Covid-19 on the hospital has eased somewhat, also with regard to the relocation of other intensive care cases, reports Peter Lemberger, pandemic officer and chief physician of the intensive care unit.

There are currently two ventilation patients there - one partially vaccinated and one unvaccinated, according to the district office.

According to the state government, those who have been vaccinated for the first time and people whose full vaccination was more than six months ago are considered to be partially vaccinated.

The total number of Covid-Klinik patients has almost halved in the same period: from 29 to 16 (nine partially vaccinated and seven unvaccinated).

Fewer infections result in fewer hospital patients: chief physician calls the connection "likely"

This fulfilled a hope, based on another trend: in mid-December, the seven-day incidence had also almost halved within a good two weeks.

Now it turns out that the fall in the number of infections is accompanied by a fall in the hospitalization rate with a two or three week delay.

“That is likely,” says intensive care physician Lemberger about whether the two are related.

Incidence still high: this is the role vaccination plays

Speaking of the connection: the seven-day incidence of 261.6 is still above the peak values from the previous pandemic winter.

According to intensive care physician Lemberger, the fact that the virus does not bring more people to the clinic despite the large number of infected people is due to the vaccination - and to the fact that those who have recovered also have a kind of basic protection for a few months: "The courses are less difficult."

Nevertheless, the trend of a lower average age of Covid patients continues - and finally there is the Omikron question mark: "There is still no reliable data on this," says the chief physician.
