Supreme Court President Esther Hayut today (Thursday) sent an email to all judges in which she condemned attacks on the judiciary in general and the judiciary in a statement following a statement by Likud MK Dudi Amsalem in which he claimed that the Supreme Court judge "drank whiskey" when making a decision.
"For a long time now, we have been witnessing blatant attacks on judges following judicial decisions given by them," Hayut wrote to the judges and registrars.
"These outbursts are directed at the body of judges personally and have nothing to do with legitimate criticism directed at the body of my words.

The president apparently referred to the attacks of the mayor of Lod, Yair Revivo, at the recent Jabotinsky conference in which he accused Justice of the Peace Tal Anar who refused the police request to extend the detention of about 40 suspects using illegal weapons in the city. .
"It is not possible that we arrested 40 people in the last month who were involved in illegal shooting and Judge Tal Anar refuses to extend their detention and release them. If you want there to be deterrence, you have to put people in prison for many years and produce minimum sentences."
MK Dudi Amsalem also recently attacked Supreme Court Justice David Mintz, who rejected his petition against Defense Minister Bnei Gastez and Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit, who refused to appoint Boaz Halevi as IAI's CEO.
"I want a delusional judge. What did he answer? Rejected the petition. These mediocre and down-to-earth politicians heard the name David Amsalem said it did not matter. If he did not drink a bottle of whiskey before writing the decision, do not call me my uncle."
For dessert he advised Judge Mintz to resign and said "even in the introduction to first year judges they would not accept you".
