Rebelote.
The Covid-19 is once again spoiling New Year's Eve ... For the record, last year, the government decided to impose a strict curfew from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on New Year's Eve, in order to prevent gatherings and the spread of the virus.
Exceptional fact: the police headquarters had even ordered the closure of 200 stations and half of the metro lines from 9 p.m.
This year, despite major restrictions decided on Wednesday by the prefectures in Île-de-France, Île-de-France Mobilités is renewing its offer of free and uninterrupted transport overnight from Friday to Saturday.

In the absence of a curfew, Ile-de-France residents will therefore be able to freely use public transport to say goodbye to 2021 and celebrate the New Year. Be careful, however, to be aware of the new rules in force in Paris and in many departments: closure of bars at 2 o'clock, wearing a compulsory mask, ban on assembling and consuming alcohol, etc.
Concretely, six metro lines (1, 2, 4, 6, 9 and 14) and 10 RER or Transilien lines will operate continuously overnight from Friday to Saturday. Be careful, however: not all stations and stations will be served, and the service will be particularly light on certain sections of the line (one train every hour on the north branches of RER B and D, for example). On the bus side, the Noctilien lines will run like a classic weekend night, from 12:30 am to 5:30 am. The police headquarters decided to close several stations near the Champs-Élysées, in particular. Access to the transport network will be free from Friday 5 p.m. to Saturday noon.

"Spread the flow" and "avoid the deaths on the road"
Île-de-France Mobilités does not wish to modify this device, despite the (unofficial) wish expressed by the police headquarters to stop transport from 2 am.
"We have not received an official request," says one in the entourage of Valérie Pécresse.
It seems that no one is ready to take on a transport disruption ”.
The non-stop free transport offer is therefore maintained. IDFM believes that this offer is precisely there to guarantee health security. “If we stop the subways and RERs at a late hour, it could create a congestion at 2 am. On the contrary, maintaining transport throughout the night allows the flow to be spread out. And above all, it helps prevent road deaths and the risks of alcohol. Road safety is the raison d'être of this all-night transport offer ”.
IDFM also highlights the needs of people and companies who work on New Year's Eve. “Even if there will undoubtedly be a lot less people than for a regular New Year's Eve, there are still a lot of people who work. that night.
The waiters, the bartenders, the cooks.
For them, the supply of overnight transport is very important ”.
