President Bashar al-Assad sent a cable of congratulations to President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation on the occasion of the New Year.
In his telegram, President al-Assad said: On the occasion of the New Year, I extend to you my warmest congratulations, with my most sincere wishes that this year brings you good luck and success, and to your people and your friendly country continued progress, prosperity and elevation.
President al-Assad added: We also hope that this year will witness more brilliance for the distinguished relations between the Syrian Arab Republic and the Russian Federation, and for the bilateral cooperation that achieves impressive successes and leaves positive effects on the lives of the two friendly peoples.
In a telegram to President al-Assad published on the Russian presidency website today, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed hope that the new year will bring about the consolidation of security and stability on all of the Syrian territories.
In his telegram, President Putin affirmed Russia's continuation of providing comprehensive support to friendly Syria in the fight against international terrorism, as well as in the field of finding a comprehensive political solution to the crisis there and in the reconstruction process.
