The National Security Office of the Police yesterday (29th) arrested current or former senior officials of Position News, including former editor-in-chief Zhong Peiquan of Position News, acting editor-in-chief Lin Shaotong, former director Zhou Dazhi, Wu Aiyi, Fang Minsheng, He Yunshi, and the former “Stance News” Chen Peimin, vice president of Apple Daily, is suspected of conspiracy to publish seditious publications.


According to sources, the police are looking for a number of people involved in the case, including one of the founders and directors of "Stance News" Cai Donghao, and the former director of "Stance News" and former senior adviser to the Central Policy Group Lian Yizheng.

Lian Yizheng accepted an interview with international relations scholar Shen Xuhui in October this year and revealed that he had moved to Japan and taught at a local university.


Sources say that the police are looking for a number of people involved in the case, including Lian Yizheng, a former director of "Stance News" and a former senior adviser to the Central Policy Group.

The National Security Office of the police launched an operation at about 6 o'clock yesterday morning and arrested 6 people including Zhong Peiquan, Lin Shaotong, Zhou Dazhi, Wu Aiyi, Fang Minsheng, and He Yunshi, and investigated them in the apartment of Chen Langsheng, Deputy Interview Director of "Stance News" and chairman of the Association of Journalists.

Police officers also went to the "Stance News" office of Kailian Industrial Centre, 55 Hoi Yuen Road, Kwun Tong, to search.

Later, the police arrested Chen Peimin, who was being returned to the Tai Lam Correctional Institution and the former deputy director of Apple Daily. It is reported that Chen Peimin was suspected of participating in writing articles in "Stance News."

Today, the police have formally charged Zhong Peiquan, Lin Shaotong, and the "Stance News" for "conspiracy to publish seditious publications", and they will appear in West Kowloon Court this afternoon.

It is understood that the remaining arrested persons are expected to be released on bail.
