The first interrogation in the warning was after a month and a half and then, the parents were released to continue caring for the baby • The two were arrested in light of the multiplicity of cases in which the toddler found herself in medical settings

The nine-month-old baby abuse case from Holon: The

investigation shows that at the end of September, the Merhav Ayalon police received the first complaint of suspected helpless abuse, but the first investigation with a warning by the police was only more than a month and a half later.

Only in recent days has the Welfare issued an emergency order to remove the toddler from the parents' custody for 30 days.

A couple of young parents from Holon were arrested yesterday (Wednesday) by the Ayalon police on suspicion of abusing their nine-month-old baby daughter, who is hospitalized in stable condition at Schneider Hospital in Petah Tikva.

The baby was born by caesarean section weighing 720 grams while her mother was ill with corona and was anesthetized and breathing.

She was born with significant medical problems water in the brain, bleeding in the brain and weak bones.

Since her discharge from the hospital, she has come back several times with various fractures in her body, when at the end of September she arrived with a skull fracture.

Even then, the suspicion arose that it was a case of helpless abuse and a complaint was filed with the Ayalon area police, which collected the parents' testimony, but released them to continue caring for the baby.

When the parents arrived again about a month and a half later with fractures to the baby to the hospital they were interrogated with a warning but after the interrogation were released.

In recent days the mother brought the baby back to the hospital, where they did further tests and after a genetic disease was ruled out, it became clear that there was a real suspicion of intentional injuries as a result of the concussion and only about three months after the first complaint the couple were arrested.

Following a complaint from the hospital, last night the two were brought to the Magistrate's Court in Bat Yam, where it was alleged by the police representative that in light of the many cases in which the toddler found herself in medical settings due to injuries to her body, skull fractures and bleeding inside the eyes, it was decided to make the arrest.

On the other hand, the defense attorney claimed that the parents live separately and the mother is 100 percent disabled and asked for her release and stated that she was the one who brought the girl for tests.

"Coming to court and asking for detention should be a particularly extreme and drastic procedure that involves a young woman who has been traumatized and barely survived. Statistics - Whoever fell asleep and breathed and at the same time gave birth to the baby, with the legal term thin skull, he describes exactly this case in a picturesque way.

"This is a baby who was not born normally but weighed 720 grams and suffered many difficulties, and stayed in the hospital for four months and was resuscitated. Therefore it is very likely that her body may have some uniqueness regarding her medical condition," the defense attorney said.

Judge Sarit Crispin, who ordered the parents' couple's detention to be extended by five days, that there is an evidentiary basis that establishes a reasonable suspicion against them for the offenses for which they were suspected and that there is a reason for detention.

"This is a complicated issue. The investigation file, many medical documents attesting to a significant number of injuries inflicted on the baby in recent months, some of those documents refer to defense attorneys' claims about the baby's sensitive condition as a result of her premature birth while the suspect was anesthetized and respirated due to coronary heart disease." , According to Judge Crispin.
