Tonight (Friday), the Ministry of Defense signed a procurement agreement with the US administration, under which 12 Lockheed Martin "Super Yasur" helicopters and two other Boeing KC-46 refueling aircraft will be sold to Israel.

"We are adapting the Air Force to the challenges of the future, near and especially far from Israel's borders," Defense Minister Bnei Gantz said after the agreement was signed.

The scope of the deal for the new helicopters, which will replace the Air Force's old storm helicopters, is estimated at about $ 2 billion of US aid funds.

The agreement with the US Navy was signed by the head of the procurement delegation, Brigadier General (Res.) Michel Ben Baruch, and includes an option to purchase six more helicopters. The first helicopters are expected to arrive in Israel during 2026.

At the same time, the head of the Ministry of Defense's procurement delegation signed an agreement to purchase two more Boeing KC-46 refueling aircraft.

The scope of this deal is estimated at $ 1.1 billion from US aid funds.

The refueling aircraft, which will be added to two refuelers that have already been purchased, will be adapted to the Israeli configuration and the operational requirements of the Air Force, and will also incorporate Israeli systems.

The procurement agreement is part of a large-scale move, promoted by the Ministry of Defense together with the IDF over the past year and a half, to strengthen the IDF's capabilities.

The U.S. aid fundraising program includes equipping a new squadron of "Mighty" (F35) aircraft, refuelers (KC-46), CH-53K assault helicopter replacement helicopters, advanced air armament, air defense systems, new marine and terrestrial platforms and cyber and digital issues.

The details of the procurement were agreed in discussions between Defense Minister Bnei Gantz and the relevant parties, and its budget was approved by the Ministerial Committee for Equipping as well as by the Joint Defense Budget Committee in the Knesset, in accordance with the law.

"The procurement agreements are another significant milestone - in the IDF's force building," Ganz said.
