The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced the registration of 17 deaths and 4,290 new infections with the Corona virus during the past 24 hours, a slight decrease from the infections recorded yesterday.
In its daily report, the ministry said that the cumulative number of confirmed cases of the virus in the country rose to 727,930 and deaths to 9,119.
Yesterday, Lebanon recorded 15 deaths and 4,537 new infections with the Corona virus.
The Minister of Health, Firas Al-Abyad, said that the increase that was recorded in Corona tests “reflects a widespread outbreak of the virus and is due to the spread of the rapidly transmitted Omicron mutant and the gatherings that the festive season is witnessing.”
Al-Abyadh pointed out that the majority of positive cases are registered among the unvaccinated, explaining that 78 percent of the infected people in the last three days were unvaccinated.
Al-Abyad pointed out that the occupancy rate of beds in hospitals was 78 percent.
