New Year's Eve is getting closer and closer.

Numerous corona restrictions must be observed in Bavaria.

The rules cause confusion, especially in gastronomy.

An overview.

Munich - Like last year, the New Year's Eve festival in the Free State will probably take place rather calmly.

Numerous restrictions and bans must be observed due to the corona pandemic.

Anyone who does not adhere to it risks a fine of 250 euros (standard rate).

One rule in particular is still a headache for many.

In gastronomy, the New Year can be toasted at midnight - even with more than ten people.

Merkur.de

asked the Bavarian Ministry of Health how this relaxation of the rules goes along with the private contact restrictions.

Corona rules on New Year's Eve: What you have to pay attention to in the Free State in gastronomy

A maximum of ten people applies to private gatherings. Children under the age of 14 are exempt from the restriction. Even stricter rules apply to unvaccinated people. Then members of one household are only allowed to come together with two people from another household. Private New Year's Eve parties in large groups are therefore prohibited. In restaurants, however, this rule only applies to a limited extent. "For meetings in the catering trade that do not have the character of an event, the rules for visiting catering facilities always apply," explains a spokeswoman for the ministry

In restaurants currently “only” the 2G rule applies.

Means: In the restaurant it is still possible to dine and toast with more than ten people on New Year's Eve. And that too until after midnight. The curfew of 10 p.m. was suspended over the New Year celebrations. The ministry justifies its decision as follows:

“The one-time suspension appears necessary in view of the special features of the New Year. Otherwise, it would be expected that New Year's Eve celebrations would take place on a larger scale outside of the catering trade and thus, in case of doubt, under lower infection protection standards. "

However, if the meeting in the restaurant is a closed event in a separate room, with stricter entry requirements (2G-plus), you can even dance to loud music.

However, the ten-person rule of contact restrictions actually applies here.

"In principle, a minimum distance of 1.5 m must be maintained, which is not necessary when sitting at the table and - due to the nature of the matter - when dancing," said the Ministry of Health on this type of event.

However, a mask is required when dancing.

The Vice President of the Gastro Association considers this jumble of rules to be "illogical."

Rules at the turn of the year in Bavaria: New Year's Eve bans outdoors

In addition to the contact restrictions, there is a ban on fireworks in Bavaria on New Year's Eve “in particularly popular public spaces”.

Gatherings of more than ten people are also prohibited in these places and in the vicinity.

As soon as more than ten people come together, according to the Corona regulation, the group must "disperse immediately".

In addition, no alcohol may be consumed there.

The affected places are determined by the individual municipalities.

In Munich, for example, firing is prohibited within the Mittlerer Ring, in Augsburg in the city center, in Nuremberg on and around the Imperial Castle, on the main market and around the Lorenz Church.
