A child was killed and another seriously injured in a fireworks accident in the Netherlands despite a nationwide ban on firecrackers during New Year's celebrations.
"A 12-year-old boy died after the accident and another was taken to hospital," Dutch police said today, noting that the accident occurred in the eastern Dutch city of Hacksbergen, near the German border, and the police arrested a man in connection with the incident.
Dutch Health Minister Hugo de Jonge said that injuries related to fireworks are causing great pressure on health workers who are already fighting the Corona virus pandemic.
