On New Year's Eve, there were 2 dead and 4 injured in a traffic accident in San Po Kong.
At about 6 o'clock in the evening today (31st), a BMW private car shoveled a pedestrian pavement on the ground floor of Wang Kai Center, No. 29 Tai Yau Street, San Po Kong, and crashed into a ground shop. Five passers-by were knocked down and injured. Three of them lay down in front of the convenience store. Someone had a bloody head and was unconscious. Several citizens witnessed the situation and called the police and stepped forward to assist the injured.
After rescuers arrived, it was confirmed that a 23-year-old woman surnamed Shi was obviously dead. Police officers covered her body with a green tent. A 63-year-old man surnamed Li was rushed to United Hospital and died, and 4 injured were sent to Yili. SABIC Hospital, including a 25-year-old male driver surnamed Wu who reported dizziness.
A taxi was also involved in the accident. According to the taxi driver, the taxi was carrying passengers and a private car on the opposite lane suddenly rammed into the rear of the taxi head-on.
A Cam video of a suspected private car has been circulating on the Internet. It can be seen that the private car had crossed the opposite lane at a very high speed, crashed into the back of a taxi and shoveled the pedestrian path. Many debris splashed in the meantime.
As of 9:30 p.m., the Hospital Authority announced the status of the remaining four injured in the car accident. All of them were admitted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Among them, a 63-year-old female was in critical condition, a 28-year-old male was in critical condition, and a 25-year-old man was in serious condition. And a 43-year-old woman is in stable condition.
