Sniffer dogs accidentally discovered skeletonized body parts of a man in a forest in the west of Dortmund.

His identity is still unclear at first.

The Dortmund police are asking for information.

The police are initially puzzled after the horror find.

Who is this man?

By chance, investigators discovered the skeletonized body parts of a man on Tuesday night (December 28).

An employee of a senior citizens' residence had previously triggered an emergency call after hearing calls for help from a forest.

When searching for a helpless person, the police said they also used a helicopter and sniffer dogs.

Who had called for help could not be determined.

But the sniffer dogs struck in the wooded area between the retirement home and the train tracks.

The officials discovered parts of a man's bones in a boot, media reports.

Later on, skeletal parts could be found in the rest of the area.

According to the first findings of forensic medicine, the bone parts indicate a 40 to 45-year-old man with a height of about 1.90 meters.

The police also reported: "He wore camouflage pants from the brand 'Nirvana' in size XL and combat boots (size 44)".

A plastic bag from the “Yormas” bakery, a cloth bag from the “Kik” company and a brown glass bottle were also found near the site in the forest.

Forensic medicine currently rules out "third-party fault".

Apparently there is no trace of a crime on the skeletal parts.

However, the forensic investigations were still ongoing.

The identity of the deceased is still unclear at first.

That is why the Dortmund police are asking for evidence of a missing man to whom the above details apply.

Walkers can find body parts in the Ore Mountains - in different places.

These discoveries also pose a mystery to the police.
