Wish for 2022: Community instead of tiring pop and dazzling effects

District - The second New Year's Eve during the corona pandemic is not a normal one either.

As in 2020, there are contact restrictions this year, but doing without can also be an opportunity.

And bang - it's New Year's Eve again.

The Christmas feast is only half digested, but the contents of the refrigerator have already swelled to their maximum volume again.

After all, you want to offer your loved ones something good.

“Especially after this year”, some have in mind.

Although we are spared the curfew this year, the preparations for the celebration in 2021 are more reminiscent of math lessons than exuberant fun - especially since there is still a threat of uninvited guests.

New contact restrictions have been in effect in Bavaria since last Tuesday.

A maximum of ten people who have been vaccinated or have recovered may meet privately.

The restrictions on meeting with unvaccinated persons - one household plus two other people from the same household - still apply.

“We all have to work together to prevent infections from spreading, especially with regard to the worrying virus variant Omikron”, appeals to the Bavarian Ministry of Health.

The district office confirms that this has arrived in the district: a total of 18 cases of the virus mutation have so far been officially confirmed.

"The cases are no longer solely due to returning travelers," explains the district office.

According to the health department, the mutation, which is considered to be contagious, sometimes already shows symptoms of illness in close contact persons two to three days after contact with an infected person.

"That is why the doctors advise promptly to initiate at least one self-test, preferably a PoC rapid test, in the case of classic cold symptoms and typical corona symptoms," asks the district office.

So that the hospitals, which are already working at the limit - and unfortunately often beyond - are not additionally burdened with accidents from firecrackers and fireworks, the sale of these is prohibited this year.

Nature and the animal world will also be grateful for this.

In a figurative sense, a firecracker-free year 2022 would have beneficial effects: A discourse without pop and dazzling effects.

The opportunity to shake hands and stand together without fearfully looking for potential dangers.
