Anton Huber (74) from Pastetten has been riding his e-bike in almost any weather since summer 2020.

Pastettes

- Many an e-bike was bought with enthusiasm, used a few times and is now bored in the garage or shed. Anton Huber's Centurion bike from Pastetten was spared this fate. There is so much on the road that the electronic odometer shows exactly 12,000 kilometers during a photo session with the local newspaper. The Huber Toni, as the sprightly senior is called in the village, only bought his yellow-black speedster in July 2020.

The 74-year-old explores extensively the near and far surroundings of his home town on a two-wheeler. The weather plays a subordinate role, it just can't be smooth. "The movement is good for the intervertebral discs and the hips," says Huber. He doesn't mind that he drives alone. Rather the opposite. The senior tells us that he can indulge his thoughts so nicely. It also happened to him that he lost sight of the charge level of the battery. The electricity only supports the muscle power for about 80 kilometers, then the battery has to be plugged in again for two hours. "That was near Niederwörth, so I had to pedal pretty hard on the way home," says Huber with a smile.

His great wish would be a tour through the mountains. But for that he needs his son's VW bus, "the bike doesn't fit in my car". While the 12,000 kilometers left hardly any marks on the two-wheeler itself, there was wear and tear. After 9,000 kilometers the rear tire was replaced, after 11,000 kilometers it was the turn of the front tire.

But anyone who thinks that Huber Toni is only on the road with his bike is wrong.

Because there is also a proud Bulldog collection with a 17 HP Lanz, a 19 HP Hanomag and two Eicher narrow gauge with 25 and 35 HP.

“When I come back from a bike tour, I sometimes take it on a little trip to relax with my three grandchildren,” says Huber.

He is not only known locally for his vehicles.

For many years he has been involved in various functions for the village community, including as sacristan.
