More than 8,000 verified for Corona over the weekend: "In the optimistic scenario - more than 20,000 in the next two weeks"
Researchers at the Hebrew University have published a report on the spread of the new strain in Israel, according to which the high number of infections, together with the estimated risk of serious illness of adults with an invalid vaccine, is expected to create a very high hospital load in the second half of January.

Tonight (Saturday), researchers at the Hebrew University published a report according to which the number verified for the Omicron strain is expected to reach more than 20,000 in the coming week - and will continue to rise in the second week of January.
The high number of infections, together with the estimated risk of serious illness in adults with a vaccine that is not valid, is expected to create a very high burden on hospitals in the second half of January.
Experts stressed that since most of the infected are expected to be infected in the next two weeks, there is a high urgency to complete the vaccine among the at-risk population.
In addition, the high number of infected people raises the need to focus efforts on protecting the at-risk population.

In addition, the high number of infected people raises the need to focus efforts on protecting the at-risk population.
"The doubling times we have set for the near future are 2.5 to 3.5 days," the report said.
The researchers also added that the risk for a high number of severe patients stems mainly from an unvaccinated population aged 50 plus who are expected to be infected in the next two weeks.

The Ministry of Health reported that the coefficient of infection had risen to 1.76.
It was also reported that 5,466 new verifications were discovered yesterday, out of 139,050 tests performed.
Also, over the entire weekend 8,170 new verified were found.
There are currently 101 corona patients defined as critically ill, of whom 27 are respirators, and so far 8,244 people have died from the outbreak.
