Over the past year, the Environment Directorate in Homs witnessed a wide range of targeted environmental activities and events, as it implemented more than 800 environmental approvals and import licenses.

The director of the environment, Eng. Talal Al-Ali, said in a statement to SANA reporter that 818 environmental approvals were granted, which included studying the environmental impact, licensing facilities, and granting import licenses, including a cheese and dairy factory, feed factories, the detergent industry, an olive press, refrigerators for storage and cooling, dialysis water industry, a photovoltaic power plant and the extraction of raw salt from Milaha. Palmyra and the import of chemical and medical materials, coal and refrigerant gas, in addition to conducting an analysis of 60 samples from school and hospital reservoirs to determine their reality and the extent of their cleanliness and suitability for use.

Al-Ali indicated that the directorate works within a participatory team that includes the directorates of agriculture and education and the city council, where it carried out over the past year about 50 campaigns for cleaning, afforestation, planting and landscaping in all neighborhoods of the city, in addition to holding interactive awareness meetings in schools and implementing specialized courses in the health, environmental and media fields in the directorate.

Al-Ali indicated that in the field of the work of the Environmental Observatory, the process of converting the environmental map segments from a local stereographic coordinate system to a global coordinate system was completed and the Syrian satellite images were downloaded to monitor the seasonal and annual change of water bodies in Syria. observatory.
