Today, Pope Francis called on the countries of the world to strive for peace and work to build it, calling at the same time to stop violence around the world.
"Let us go home and think about the peace we need, which requires concrete initiatives such as alerting the weak, forgiving others and promoting justice," the Pope said in his message on the occasion of New Year's Day and the 55th World Day of Peace.
"Peace also needs a positive view, of the good that can unite us," the Pope added, calling for the strengthening of the role of mothers, the protection of women and an end to violence against them.
The Pope also called for strengthening the role of education, job creation and intergenerational dialogue as tools for building peace.
