Damascus, SANA- The Ministry of Justice worked during the year 2021 to restore and rehabilitate court buildings and judicial complexes

During the year 2021, the Ministry of Justice worked to restore and rehabilitate court buildings and judicial complexes that had been destroyed and sabotaged by terrorists, and continued its projects related to establishing new courts and judicial complexes, in addition to issuing circulars to speed up work.

The Ministry has completed the rehabilitation work of the second floor of the Palace of Justice building in Damascus and the implementation of the Citizen Service Center project in the building. It also created a notary public department in the Syrian Investment Authority building, and a notary public department has been allocated in each justice or governorate in order to organize the agencies of investors and authenticate them as assets, in addition to securing two headquarters for issuing Notary agencies in the Mezzeh and Dumar project.

In the countryside of Damascus, after the completion of all rehabilitation and restoration operations, work resumed in the Judicial Complex in Darayya and the Al-Nashabiya and Qatana courts, in addition to the completion of the rehabilitation of the Maliha Court.

In Aleppo, the Ministry continued the rehabilitation work in the computer building belonging to the University of Aleppo to be an additional headquarters for the Judicial Palace in the city, while work continues to rehabilitate the building of the Judicial Complex in Al-Haffah in the countryside of Lattakia.

With regard to the Idlib courts, many of them have their headquarters in the liberated countryside, where the Sinjar and Abu al-Duhur courts have begun work, and the headquarters of the Khan Sheikhoun Court and the Idlib Temporary Justice are being prepared in the area.

In As-Suwayda, the construction work of the structure of the new Palace of Justice and all the covering works of the Judicial Complex building in Salkhad city have been completed. The project of the Judicial Complex building in the city of Mahardah in Hama has been prepared, and a Magistrate’s Court has been established in Shatah district.

In Deir ez-Zor, the Palace of Justice and the Judicial Complex in Al-Mayadin were completely rehabilitated, an alternative headquarters for the Judicial Complex in Al-Bukamal was secured, the Adoption Court building was maintained, and a new building was prepared for the Ashara Magistrate’s Court.

At the beginning of 2021, the Higher Judicial Institute opened its third session and included 67 students. The institute, in cooperation with the Ministry, presented a new scientific product, an electronic book titled “Controls for Drafting Judicial Letters and Explanation of Common Linguistic Errors.”

The automation of the Terrorism Court was activated and the service of inquiry about judicial agencies was activated, as it began as a trial phase with the Ministry of Transport and real estate interests, while continuing to work on archiving judicial agencies and updating the linkage department between the ministry and its affiliated bodies and forensics.

The ministry worked on issuing a number of circulars through which it sought to guarantee the rights of citizens, especially with regard to the resolution of cases as quickly as possible, checking the late ones, and sending inspection missions to check and find out the reasons for the delay.

In other circulars, the ministry stressed the need to adhere to the implementation of Legislative Decree No. 8 of 2021 regarding consumer protection from monopoly and exploitation, and demanded continuous and accurate follow-up of the cases of these crimes and counting the seizures, lawsuits and judgments issued in this framework.

The ministry stressed the need to verify the presence of the person himself or his legal representative and to ascertain his identity, capacity and eligibility to protect expatriate properties.

The ministry asked the prosecution and investigation departments and the criminal courts not to issue any arrest warrant or arrest or police bulletin based on a dual name, except for serious crimes, in addition to completing all personal data related to the plaintiffs, defendants, arrested and convicted persons, and in particular the national number to remove any similarity in names.

In order to prevent forgery of legal documents and rulings on marriage and divorce, the Ministry of Justice emphasized to all Shari’a courts the necessity of sending Shari’a documents and rulings by official mail exclusively to be recorded in the civil registry. To limit the inheritance as a result of the loss of half of the civil status records due to the crimes of terrorists during the crisis.
