After the festivities period, our body suffers from the accumulation of large meals and other too short nights that brightened our end of the year.
The excess sugar, fat and alcohol are particularly reflected on our face which looks gray and lets small imperfections appear.
As a result of our deviations, the toxins accumulated in the body are reflected on the skin.
“It is at the level of the liver that everything is played out because it is here that the detox takes place. As the liver endures an enormous load of toxins to be eliminated, it will delegate this role to the skin, ”explains French facialist Sophie Carbonari (who has among other very VIP clients Naomi Campbell and Caroline de Maigret). “Sugar passes through sweating, which affects the pH of the skin and very often creates pimples. There is also an effect on the complexion which tends to turn gray or even slightly yellowed. It's a sign that the liver is tired. ”
Rather than rushing for clay masks thinking that they will solve all our skin problems, the expert advises to treat them both from the inside and from the outside: “It's a balance between one and the other.
You have to set up a two-in-one beauty routine in the weeks or even the days following January 1, ”she warns.

Do a liver detox cure
As the specialist explained, the first (and most important) step is to relieve the liver to help it flush out toxins.
"The black radish cure works very well, even if it is not necessarily very pleasant to the taste", recommends Sophie Carbonari.
“This root facilitates drainage and acts on liver function.
Taking an activated charcoal cure also speeds up the body's detoxification process and therefore lightens the liver. ”

Focus on a single ingredient serum
Second step, use topical facials in addition to your detox treatment.
“The skin must be supported to prevent possible post-holiday damage.
First, by rebalancing its pH which, when it is too basic, develops bacteria, ”explains Sophie Carbonari.
The specialist advises to use a salicylic acid serum, applying it "only to the areas where you feel a pimple appear.
Then consider putting SPF protection on top, as this causes some photosensitivity and could create pigmentation problems. "

For those with sensitive skin, the expert advises mixing only two drops of salicylic acid serum with another hyaluronic acid serum, "in order to avoid further sensitizing it and creating sensations of redness."
Another star ingredient for getting rid of blemishes and clearing skin is niacinamide (a form of vitamin B3 known for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties).
“It can be used for all skin types, except extremely reactive ones.
It will allow us to prevent any bacterial proliferation, and therefore the appearance of pimples.
It improves the texture of the skin and prevents a graying complexion.
And is also effective in preventing dehydration linked to excess, ”says Sophie Carbonari.
Finally, to restore radiance to tired complexions, the expert suggests using a “vitamin C-based serum, which is always a good idea, even if you don't have pimples.”
Treat yourself to a facial self-massage
Facial massage, Sophie Carbonari's specialty, is another great way to drain lymph and detoxify her skin. Before getting started, "the choice of the product you are going to use is very important," she warns. "First apply a serum that will prevent all skin problems such as acne, dull complexion", favoring those based on active ingredients that the expert advised previously. “Then add a treatment based on hyaluronic acid or another very hydrating ingredient. You will have to flood your skin with hydration, ”she recommends. Like what, contrary to popular belief, it is not useful to abuse purifying masks to "cleanse" your skin after a period of excess: they will create an effect contrary to that sought, by drying the skin.
After applying your face cream, it's time to massage.
"We will have to stimulate the microcirculation and the micro glands", announces Sophie Carbonari.
“Start by exerting small pressure movements with your fingers on the lymph nodes at the angle of the neck and jaw.
Then do the same on the sinuses at the wing of the nose and above the eyes, paying particular attention to the pressure points.
Make movements from the inside to the outside of the face, mobilizing the side of the hand and placing the index finger vertically on the skin.
Slide on the angle of the nose to drain toxins well. "
Do the same on the forehead, this time rotating the hands horizontally.

For beginners, the expert advises to repeat each movement three times to start.
“So you get a routine that lasts about two, three minutes,” she says.
And if the task seems too complicated, it is better to entrust your face to a facialist who will know how to use her fairy fingers to help us regain a healthy glow after the end of the year holidays.
