Weather: The new year opens with a wintry and rainy week
A wintry atmosphere is expected over the coming week with intermittent rains, until mid-week.

The night weather is expected to be partly cloudy to cloudy.
Local rains are expected mainly in the south of the country and in the east, and there may be occasional thunderstorms.

During Shabbat, about 40,000 hikers went for walks in the national parks and nature reserves, of which 20,000 hiked in the south of the country.
"We were happy to see the thousands of hikers who came to watch the streams flow. About 5,000 hikers came to the area of the Zinim Cliff Reserve," said Orly Gilad, the reserve's director.
"To our delight the hikers kept to the rules and followed the marked paths only."
