Krailling - The year 2022 has begun - time for Krailling's Mayor Rudolph Haux to take a quick look back and report on what is coming up in the municipality in the new year.

Among other things, Krailling is getting a new bakery, but unfortunately not a new edition of the popular KultArt festival.

Mr Haux, when you look back on 2021 - what was your personal milestone?

Rudolph Haux: Clearly the end of the town center.

We're finally done.

There will still be some final work on the new building at the corner of Margaretenstrasse / Luitpoldstrasse by spring, but we have done most of the work.

You are talking about the successor to the former English kindergarten - there should be apartments upstairs.

What will come down to the first floor now?

Haux: The Sickinger bakery will set up a branch here, with the option of putting tables and chairs on the square in front of it.

In the absence of parking spaces, however, a previously planned, large indoor café cannot be implemented.

What else has been done?

Haux: The measures in Ludwigstrasse and Rosenstrasse were also ended, both are now play streets.

We have bet on simultaneity with the town center, although there have been votes that we should postpone it until next year.

But the citizens should now be left alone in the town center for the next few years.

What happens then with the planning for the redesign of the northern Margaretenstrasse?

Haux: The plans are in place.

But the municipal council made it clear from the start: We are planning this section - but no one can say whether it will ever be implemented.

But no further construction site will open before 2024.

We agreed that with the government of Upper Bavaria.

In addition to funding, we need equity and we don't have that.

The EOS property at KIM, which the municipality recently bought back, will certainly be a big topic for 2022.

How is it going to go on?

Haux: The local council has to position itself in the next few weeks.

But we are already in an intensive exchange with Kraillinger companies at the KIM as to whether and how there is a need.

Of course, there are also external inquiries from the Würmtal.

The consensus, however, remains that no business that attracts a lot of traffic can come on this property.

The area with its 13,000 square meters is not big enough for that.

We would like to present a solution in 2022.

Key point residential development - what is going on in the village?

Haux: There are new apartments, such as the current new building on Luitpoldstrasse.

The local council worked on the development plan for a long time.

Possibly with the possibility of also integrating business.

Then we would have a very nice, extended town center.

Otherwise there is a lot of renovation going on.

In other words, many buildings from the 1960s with single-family houses are being demolished and newly built with more living space.

A natural compression.

In order to create more living space, we are currently advocating raising the roof for some construction projects.

This gives you an additional full storey and thus more space upwards.

More living space also means more cars and thus even fewer parking spaces ...

Haux: Yes, that is actually a general Kraillinger problem.

Citizens believe they are entitled to parking on the street.

My repeated request therefore: Take care of the hedge overhang in the public space for more space and park your car, if available, in the garages.

When you think of hedges, you inevitably think of the front yard statutes, which were much discussed last year.

Haux: That's right, right now we have been instructed to take another look at the articles of association.

The problem here is that one detail always leads to new details.

Honestly, I don't know how it'll turn out.

I'm against a complicated statute myself, although of course I don't want rock gardens either.

But most of the Kraillingers try very hard, and it remains to be seen whether such a detailed regulation will be needed.

It must be said that these new statutes would only affect those areas where there is no development plan.

The preservation of the garden city character remains important.

Could you briefly name the status quo for assisted living at the Caritas nursing home and the school renovation?

Haux: We are on the home stretch for assisted living.

Unfortunately, it has been delayed, but I hope that it will finally start in 2023, taking into account the vegetation phases for clearing.

At the elementary school we simply had to find out that the original planning was not affordable.

We have now hired an architect who will talk to everyone involved - such as the school, after-school care center, music school - in order to break down the wishes to a feasible level.

On this basis, we then have to create a new cost calculation and see where we can get the necessary money from.

Because without equity, the municipality will not receive a loan for this project.

Much loved, but too expensive: The Kraillinger KultArt Festival - how does it look for 2022?

Haux: Unfortunately, that will no longer exist in this form.

The requirement is that someone of whatever kind is found who can culturally create something.

The problem was the enormous costs and the blockade of the building yard for weeks.

We can no longer afford that.

It may also be that the building yard has to be expanded and the space required for such a festival is no longer available.

But I still wish for nice, cultural events in the future, such as the town hall concert last year.

Now I'm looking forward to the official inauguration of the new town center on May 1st and the erection of the new maypole.
