Not just one wolf, but a whole pack is said to have settled in Chiemgau.

Political solutions are not helpful for many farmers.

Siegsdorf - Just a wolf or a whole pack?

Many people in Chiemgau are currently concerned with this question.

After several wolf sightings in the past few weeks and attacks on goats in October and December, rumors are mounting that there are currently three wolf pups in the Hochfelln area.

A veterinarian has now confirmed at least one of the wolf cubs.

She saw the six-month-old wolf boy out of her car, the woman told

Rosenheim24.

In addition, the wolves can often be heard and their tracks can be seen.

Wolf pack in Chiemgau: suspicion is confirmed - farmers angry at politicians

The vet's suspicions match the recordings of a photo trap in Siegsdorf, which a pregnant female wolf had taken in the spring of 2021. So the wolf cub seen by the veterinarian could very well be a pup of this female. Puppies stay with their parents for two to three years after they are born and help raise younger siblings. The assumption that a whole pack is now based in Chiemgau is obvious.

The District Office for the Environment confirmed last Wednesday, December 29, 2021 that there must be several wolves in the area.

The last attack on a goat on December 15 in Bergen was carried out by a "previously unknown male wolf".

That means: The other cracks - partly also in the Berchtesgadener Lad - were probably caused by other wolves.

Hence there must be several wolves.

Wolf packs tear animals in Chiemgau - Mayor is now reacting

Farmers in the area are upset about the suspicions about the wolf pack.

There is great distrust in the authorities and the State Office for the Environment.

They are accused of targeted disinformation and a lack of transparency.

According to information from

Rosenheim24,

affected farmers are

now

organizing

their own WhatsApp groups to advise one another, as they feel abandoned by the authorities.

The wolf is a beautiful animal, says the Staudach horse breeder Irmi Guggenbichler, but it does not fit into local habitats.

Nevertheless, the wolf is under special protection in the EU.

Deliberately disturbing, catching or killing an animal is strictly prohibited.

Crisis summit on the subject of wolf: farmers angry - district administrator demands shooting permission

If it is up to District Administrator Siegfried Walch (CSU), the wolves should still be released for shooting. These threatened the regional alpine farming, so Walch in a communication from November. This is to be protected. At a wolf crisis summit in December, several farmers again expressed their clear displeasure with the prevailing policy on wolf issues.

Conservationists recommend fences to farmers, some of which are subsidized by public funds, in order to protect their animals from the wolves.

But even in a wild animal enclosure surrounded by a 2.30 meter high metal fence, a doe was torn down in December.

The implementation is not only insecure, but also time-consuming and expensive.

For many farmers this is hardly feasible in practice.

In the municipality of Inzell, Mayor Hans Egger reacted to the recent wolf attack.

In cooperation with the community he wants to write a letter to the government.

This should also be signed by farmers from the region.
