The police said that in recent weeks, the central unit of the Jerusalem district conducted an investigation against a Palestinian suspect, a resident of Beituniya in his 60s, on suspicion of committing incitement to terrorism and supporting a terrorist organization.
After he was arrested for questioning on December 13, and his detention was extended from time to time in order to exhaust the investigative actions, a prosecutor's statement was filed against him in the military court and his detention was extended, until Thursday, January 6.
The investigation of the Jerusalem SAR began after the shooting attack that took place in the Old City at the end of last November, during which the late Eliyahu Kay was murdered.
It was then learned that the suspect arrived at the mourning tent of the terrorist's family who carried out the shooting attack, where he spoke and expressed his praise and actions of the terrorist and even conveyed the condolences of the Hamas movement to his family.
These investigative actions have matured, as stated, into the arrest of the suspect and an indictment is expected to be filed against him this week by the military prosecutor's office.
