The Ministerial Committee will today (Sunday) discuss a bill, by MK Ofir Sofer (Religious Zionism) and the "Voters for Life" forum, to disqualify candidates who express support for terrorists and acts of terrorism from being elected to the Knesset of Israel.
MK Sofer explained the need for the law by claiming that "every election campaign, the Election Commission denies the candidacy of lists or pro-terror candidates, but the court overturns the decision time and time again, including candidates who have expressed explicit support for those who murdered people because of their Jewishness or "Because of the armed struggle waged by the terrorist organizations."
MK Sofer's bill expands the grounds on which it will be possible to disqualify candidates from being elected to the Knesset. Or harms a Jewish person because of his Judaism or as part of the struggle waged by terrorist organizations, enemy states and individuals against the State of Israel and its citizens.

"The entry of terrorist supporters into the Knesset of Israel is anti-moral nonsense, and a resounding slap in the face of the Jewish state," said MK Ophir Sofer, adding: "Unfortunately, the Knesset of Israel has quite a few MKs who meet and even express support for terrorists."
Sofer linked the law to the events of Operation Wall Guard: "We are about six months after the riots in which three Jews were killed in Acre and Lod, which did not prevent coalition and opposition MKs from coming and supporting terrorists. It can not be accepted in any way. The Election Commission supports the law. "
