The health authorities in Bulgaria announced today that the first 12 cases of the omicron mutant of the Corona virus were recorded.

Reuters quoted the chief health inspector in Bulgaria, Angel Konshev, as saying that "the tests confirmed the presence of the new mutant by taking samples of 12 people."

Konchev explained that most of the infected people were from the capital, Sofia, and they had mild symptoms.

The sudden appearance of Omicron caused a record increase in the number of cases of infection in various countries of the world.
