The Washington Post revealed that the regime's goal is to catalog and spy on problematic factors in the world • Senior Chinese analyst: "Our ultimate goal is to identify trends, analyze them and lead public opinion in the direction we want."

The Chinese big brother is watching the whole world:

an article in the Washington Post reveals the huge efforts of the Chinese regime to monitor all global information related to China when the goal is actually cataloging, tracking and even spying on problematic factors in the world.

The paper revealed documents from 300 tenders published by the Chinese government aimed at actively gathering information from foreign journalists, researchers, government officials, Western companies and various international entities, all by constantly monitoring the activities of these entities on social networks and analyzing their every publication.

In fact, Chinese intelligence and military forces possess entire propaganda systems, which not only deal with the engineering of the consciousness of Chinese citizens, but also follow references to China around the world: for example on Taiwan, the Uyghur repression or the democratic protest in Hong Kong, And disseminating positive propaganda material on the regime.

According to the paper, which spoke anonymously to many Chinese officials, these systems alert in real-time to anti-Chinese publications or moods and work against these publications and positions around the clock as they employ foreign policy experts and analysts in any country where the need arises.

The revelation is important because so far it has been mostly known that the Chinese regime, under the clear inspiration of Chinese President Xi Jin Ping, works to guide the discourse on Chinese social networks by censoring any problematic position or opinion and is in fact a big brother of all residents.

But now we will learn that this ability to analyze, understand and identify trends is also used by China in struggles for its image in the world.

"Our ultimate goal is to identify trends, analyze them and lead public opinion in the direction we want," read a senior Chinese analyst's post regarding this activity.

To illustrate the point, the Washington Post notes that in June 2020, Twitter suspended 23,000 active accounts that were found to be bots of the Chinese government engaged in disseminating counter-information to democratic activities in Hong Kong.

Also, just this month Twitter removed 2048 active accounts that tried to obscure activity against the Uyghurs in China.

The American newspaper found that about a third of the information analysis systems purchased by China were actually purchased by the Chinese police.

This is how the regime actually monitors its citizens, even when they are overseas and can then prosecute them for their statements if they return to China.
