An early goal from Turkey's Enes Unal surprised LaLiga leaders Real Madrid, who lost 1-0 to Getafe on Sunday and ended an unbeaten streak that had lasted 15 games in all competitions. .

With 46 points from 20 games, Real Madrid is still leading, but it is not as comfortable as before.

Sevilla is second with 38 points and two games less, and on Monday they will visit Cádiz, penultimate in the table.

Getafe, led by former Watford coach Quique Sánchez Flores, extended their streak without losing in LaLiga to six games and is sixteenth in the standings, three points above the relegation zone.

It was his first win over Real in a decade.

Unal scored with a powerful low shot in the 9th minute after pressuring Real Madrid defender Eder Militao to yield the ball inside the area.

"Let's face it, we lost to a rare individual mistake by Militao, who is probably our best player this season," Real midfielder Casemiro told reporters.

"We tried hard, but his goalkeeper was inspired. Today we were not in our best form. At Real Madrid we have to play better; it is not acceptable to lose any game in this way."

Real Madrid had almost 75% possession of the ball, but only managed four shots on goal in the entire match.

"There is not much to say after a match like this," said coach Carlo Ancelotti.

"It seemed like our team had taken a few more days of vacation after Christmas."

The team clearly missed the spark that striker Vinicius Jr usually brings, as the Brazilian was absent after testing positive for covid-19 on Wednesday.

Belgian midfielder Eden Hazard was called up to the substitute bench for the second time in a row by Ancelotti after being out of the starting lineup for three months.

Hazard entered the second half but contributed little to what was probably Real Madrid's worst game of the season.

Croatian midfielder Luka Modric was the only positive note for the leaders, as he created most of Real Madrid's chances, including a long shot in the first half that hit the crossbar.
