A 40-year-old man killed his 7-year-old son last night
in his home in the province of Varese in Morazzone.
Then he went to Gazzada, also in the Varese area, and tried to kill his wife from whom he was separating.
Davide Paitone, convicted of house arrest, hid the child's body in the closet of the house
after reaching him with a slash in the throat.
Then he got in the car and drove to his wife's parents' house, where he tried to stab her too, perhaps using the same weapon used to kill his son.
He injured her not badly and then fled.
The carabinieri tracked him down at dawn today.
At the man's home they discovered the lifeless body of the child.
Paitone was under house arrest after being arrested for stabbing a colleague in the back on November 26 in Azzate, in the province of Varese.
According to what emerged,
the man had obtained to spend the New Year with his son who, tonight, should have returned to his mother.
