Under the name @mtgreenee, Marjorie Taylor Greene swarmed on Twitter about QAnon, denied the effect of corona vaccinations and played down the disease caused by the virus.
Because of these violations, among other things, the social network has now switched off an account for the Republican congresswoman and Trump supporter.
This is reported by the broadcaster CNN and the New York Times, citing Twitter.
The company had the account "because of repeated violations of our Covid-19 guideline for misinformation permanently blocked," CNN quoted a Twitter spokesman.
According to the New York Times, Greene had previously been temporarily banned four times.
Membership account remains active
The politician from the US state of Georgia also tends to fail outside of social media.
In May, on Real America's Voice, she compared wearing a mask with the Holocaust and the obligation to wear a Jewish star.
However, Greene has not completely disappeared from the Twitter cosmos.
She still has access to her official congress account @RepMTG.
It remains active as tweets from this account have not yet violated the rules of the service.
Greene's ban comes only a short time before the anniversary of the storm on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021. A little later, Twitter also ruled out the elected US President Donald Trump.
Most recently, he collected huge sums of money through a stock exchange construct in order to set up the "Truth Social" social media network himself.
According to CNN, Greene responded defiantly to the ban.
In a statement it says: "Social media platforms cannot prevent the truth from being spread far and wide." She is on the side of the truth and of the people.
