The Omicron variant strain of the new crown virus is raging around the world, causing an outbreak in the local community.
The Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health announced today (2nd) that there were 26 new confirmed cases, a record high of eight and a half months; of these, 17 cases were asymptomatic infections, 24 cases involved mutated virus strains, and the remaining two cases were mutated virus strains. The test result is to be determined.
About 30 cases were initially confirmed today.
The Wangyue Tower group in Festival Walk continued to expand, with a total of 4 people diagnosed; another construction worker who had been diagnosed earlier was also initially diagnosed with his 38-year-old wife.
When the sick Cathay Pacific flight attendant visited Wangyue Tower in Festival Walk last Monday (December 27, 2021), she and her husband were also there to dine, but they were not on the same table, and the seats were far away from the empty space and were still recruited.
She went to work at the Sandoz Center in Tsuen Wan and lasted to work last Thursday (December 30). The test result was initially positive during isolation at the Penny's Bay Quarantine Center.

In addition to the 50-year-old woman (case 12673) who was announced yesterday and lives in Block 6 of Athens, Ma On Shan (case 12673), one more person has been initially diagnosed.
The 38-year-old patient is the wife of case 12654 (construction worker). Both of them went to Wangyuelou for dinner at about 2:30 to 4 pm on December 27, and visited at the same time as Cathay Pacific, who went out for dinner in violation of regulations.
She went to the community testing center for testing according to the mandatory testing announcement on December 29, and the result was negative.
She was classified as a close household contact the next day and was arranged to be quarantined at the Penny's Bay Quarantine Center.
She developed a sore throat on January 1. The test result of the sample taken today was initially positive, with a Ct value greater than 30, and the test result of the mutant virus strain is pending.
The Centre for Health Protection announced that the female patient worked on the 15th floor of Sandoz Centre, 178-182 Texaco Road, Tsuen Wan, and the last date to work was December 30.
The patient had been vaccinated with two doses of Fubital vaccine in Hong Kong on June 19 and July 16.
The places she worked and visited during the incubation period will be included in the mandatory testing announcement.
The Center for Health Protection continued to point out that so far, a total of about 340 close contacts and household contacts of close contacts have been arranged to go to the quarantine center for quarantine, including 22 restaurant staff and about 170 diners who dine at the restaurant at the same time.
The center once again urged those who had come to Wangyue Tower to have a meal between 1 pm and 3 pm on December 27 to call the central hotline 2125 1111 or 2125 1122 as soon as possible, so that the center can conduct epidemiological investigations and contact tracing work.

In terms of imported cases, 9 people arrived in Hong Kong from the designated area of enhanced monitoring group A (high risk), 16 people arrived in Hong Kong from the designated area of group A (high risk); 12 people arrived in Hong Kong at the temporary sample collection center of Hong Kong International Airport "test The test result of "Pending Action" was positive, and 10 people tested positive during the quarantine period.

The imported case also included a 27-year-old female patient (case 12682) living in Block K, Kornhill, Quarry Bay. She went to Finland on December 24 and tested negative on December 23 before leaving Hong Kong.
She arrived in Hong Kong on December 31 from Finland via the Netherlands and Thailand on flight KL819. When she arrived in Hong Kong, the sample at the temporary sample collection center tested positive, involving N501Y and T478K mutant virus strains.
The places she has lived and visited in Hong Kong during the incubation period have been included in the mandatory testing announcement.
