Update from January 1st, 7:50 p.m.:

The Omikron wave is rolling - and so is the cancellation wave.

At least that's what the Bavarian Hotel and Restaurant Association is now complaining about.

"The discussion about Omikron alone caused an extreme wave of cancellations over New Year's Eve, at the same time the industry lacks planning security and prospects for the new year," Dehoga President Angela Inselkammer is quoted in a press release.

A survey of over 1000 Dehoga member companies shows how dramatic the situation seems. This showed that at the turn of the year there were corona-related cancellations in 91 percent of the companies surveyed. Almost two thirds of all reserved meetings or New Year's Eve meals have been canceled. Over 92 percent of all hoteliers said that overnight stays were canceled. 88 percent of those surveyed stated that the discussion about the Omikron wave was a factor in the cancellations.

Meanwhile, the outlook into the new year is not exactly more promising. 64 percent of those surveyed said they had mixed feelings, 30 percent even said that the situation was "more threatening than ever". Dr. Thomas Geppert, Dehoga Bayern regional manager, sees this as a clear cry for help to politicians: “If around a third see their situation as 'more than ever a threat to the very existence', this is a clear call for help, not to let up with economic aid, but to even make targeted improvements ".

First report from January 1:

Munich - The seven-day incidence in Bavaria has remained almost constant compared to the previous day.

According to figures from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) it was - as of 3.16 a.m. - at 181.6.

On Friday it was 182.6.

The RKI emphasizes, however, that the figures may be incomplete over the holidays - due to less test and reporting activity.

The lowest value was determined for the administrative district of Wunsiedel at 87.5.

This emerges from the nationwide Intensive Register Divi (10:05 a.m.).
