Italian police announced that one person was killed and 14 others seriously injured in New Year's Eve fireworks in Italy.
Today, La Repubblica newspaper reported that the Italian police arrested 37 people and reported 188 others after confiscating 32.5 tons of pyrotechnic products and 2.3 tons of gunpowder, noting that ten empty firearms were seized.
The police and the Ministry of the Interior recommended not to use these fireworks on New Year's Eve. Some cities, such as Rome, Milan and Naples, banned their use. However, this ban was not adhered to. The Mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi, expressed his regret that citizens did not abide by this ban on fireworks.
