The detention of the two suspects in the rape of a 22-year-old woman with special needs near the central bus station in Tel Aviv was extended today (Sunday) until Tuesday.
As you may recall, the police opened an investigation last night upon receiving a report from the hospital about a suspicion of committing a rape committed on a 22-year-old woman with special needs in an apartment near the central bus station in Tel Aviv.
Investigators who received the report met with the victim and representatives of the hostel where she was staying and began conducting a number of investigative actions alongside searches in the area of other suspects.
During the operation, the police found the two suspects, 35 and 45-year-old foreign nationals from Eritrea in the city, on suspicion of involvement in the commission of the act and arrested them for questioning at the station.
In the afternoon, the two were brought to the Magistrate's Court in Bat Yam for an extension of their detention, where it was determined that there was a reasonable suspicion that they had carried out what was attributed to them and their detention was extended by three days.
Advocate Nir Alfasa who represents one of the suspects on behalf of the defense: "All the sin of the suspect whom I represent who is his partner in the apartment of the other suspect.
He denies all suspicions and strongly claims that he did not meet or know the complainant.
We hope that the police will soon understand that this is a mistake in identification and that they have arrested the wrong person. "
Advocate Shimshon Weiss, representing the Public Defender's Office: "We are at the beginning of the investigation.
The young man is cooperating with the investigators and has given a version of the chain of events and we are waiting for the police to check his version soon. "
