Dutch police today suppressed thousands of demonstrators who gathered in the capital, Amsterdam, to protest against the government's policies regarding closures and vaccines against the Corona epidemic.
Reuters reported that thousands of demonstrators marched in the main street of the capital, Amsterdam, playing music and carrying yellow umbrellas, in a sign of their opposition to government measures, while the police used sticks and shields to disperse the demonstrators.
And there were limited clashes between a group of demonstrators and riot police during an attempt by the police forces to expel the demonstrators from the museum square, in implementation of the orders of the mayor of Amsterdam, Vimke Halsema.
The Netherlands began a sudden closure on the 19th of last December, when the government announced the closure of all non-essential stores, as well as restaurants, museums, theaters, cinemas, gyms and other public places until the 14th of this month.
The Netherlands and several European countries have imposed measures to prevent the spread of the new wave of the Omicron mutant, which could cause injuries that exceed the capacity of the health care system in the country to absorb.
