Penzberg - Two digital displays for the city bus were installed at Roche in the Nonnenwald.
According to the city, that was just the beginning.
"Line three in the direction of the train station via Freiheit, via Penzberg North-West, departure in three minutes," says a monotonous voice.
The voice comes from a yellow box attached to a gray column.
The construction is reminiscent of a traffic light, but you won't find the color combination red-orange-green.
At the end of the column there is a digital display board.
The departure times of the buses for the Roche-Haupttor stop can be read on the screen.
If you press the button on the yellow box, the monotonous voice also reads out the departure times.
If you press the button, the bus information is also read out.

Cost of 26,000 euros
The display board for the city bus is one of two digital screens that were installed at stops in the nun forest.
“A display board costs 26,000 euros,” explains the head of the regulatory agency, Joachim Bodendiek, at the inauguration of the screen.
According to Mayor Stefan Korpan (CSU), the city bears the maintenance costs.
In addition to the display boards at the Roche plant, additional screens for local public transport are planned in Penzberg for the coming year.
Korpan can also imagine the digital displays in the center and at the train station in order to “make the city's mobility concept more attractive”.

The data for the digital scoreboards is updated from a central point every two minutes.
According to Bodendiek, you are faster than the associated app and therefore your smartphone.
The new display boards at the west and main gates also play their part in Roche's mobility concept.
“We wanted to make our bus terminal more attractive,” emphasizes Wolfgang Schek, who is responsible for mobility at the Roche location in Penzberg.
In the future, the screens will not only show bus times: According to Mayor Korpan, there should also be the possibility of breaking news and event information on the display boards.
