Taipei-Sana
An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale struck off the coast of Taiwan today.
Reuters quoted the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center as saying, "The tremor struck at a depth of two kilometers, but there were no reports of casualties or damage."
Taiwan lies near the junction of two tectonic plates in the South China Sea and is prone to earthquakes. More than 100 people were killed in the 2016 earthquake in southern Taiwan and more than 2,000 people were killed in a 7.3-magnitude earthquake in 1999.
