Washington-Sana
Today, the American capital, Washington, and its region faced a blizzard with snowfall, which led to the closure of federal headquarters and schools, bus stops and disruptions to air traffic.
And the agency quoted Agence France-Presse, the weather service as saying that between 21 and 52 centimeters of snow is expected to fall on Washington, putting the city and the neighboring state of Virginia under a winter storm warning.
The weather service indicated that the storm, which is sweeping most of the eastern coast of the United States with strong winds and heavy snowfall, could lead to power outages, blizzards and possible flooding.
Faced with this weather, the government announced the closure of the federal headquarters in Washington, which led to the cancellation of the daily White House press conference, while the only vote scheduled for today in the Senate is expected to be canceled and postponed until tomorrow.
The city of Washington also announced the suspension of bus trips as well as the closure of testing centers to detect infection with Covid 19 and the suspension of the distribution of rapid tests, while many schools were closed due to snowfall in the Washington area, Maryland and Virginia.
The winter storm exacerbated the chaos that had already dominated flights in the United States for weeks due to the high number of Covid-19 infections caused by the mutated Omicron, and many flights were canceled from Ronald Reagan National Airports, Washington and Baltimore.
