A two and a half year old child drowned late yesterday evening in Torre del Greco.
It happened in the Scala area, close to the port area of the Vesuvian city.
Investigations are underway by the Carabinieri.
According to an initial reconstruction, the child was noticed in the water after some present had blocked a woman who threatened to commit suicide.
Some present at this point would have dived into the water to retrieve the baby: he was brought back to shore but the rescue was useless.
