Freising

- It was only a short season for Circus Feraro.

But at least: For a few weeks in the summer, the circus made guest appearances in various cities, including Freising.

Now the approximately 40 animals and 18 members of the Schmidt circus family are again on a forced winter break.

“We simply cannot meet the current requirements,” reports Director Hermann Schmidt.

In autumn he had been expecting a “Christmas circus” in the Luitpoldanlage - with a few Christmas stalls as a suitable backdrop.

But the fourth wave of coronavirus also overwhelmed the family business: "After consulting the Freising District Office, it turned out that we should have allowed a maximum of 25 to 40 visitors due to the person restriction," reports Schmidt.

But that doesn't pay off - not to mention the testing and control effort.

“We are paralyzed again,” says Schmidt.

Visits with animals to kindergartens or schools are currently not possible.

And omicron should be on.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

They recently moved into winter quarters in Riegerau, where all equipment, including the tent, is being brought up to date due to upcoming tests.

As in the past, also lean years, the circus family is happy to receive any kind of support - such as donations of food.
