At the turn of the year there is a new product in the range of on-board bistros in ICEs.

Deutsche Bahn wants to do something for the environment with it.

Frankfurt - A hot drink on the train journey is part of everyday life for many travelers and commuters.

At the turn of the year, Deutsche Bahn * is expanding its range in order to meet the tastes of even more people.

The innovation at Deutsche Bahn was intended to inspire vegans in particular: the group has been offering a plant-based alternative to cow's milk in the on-board bistros of ICE trains since January 1, 2022: the oat milk from the Swedish company Oatly.

Innovation at Deutsche Bahn: Vegan alternative to milk

The oat drink can be ordered with filter coffee or caffé crema since the new year, as announced by Deutsche Bahn.

By including the vegan milk alternative in its range, the group wants to ensure more environmental and climate protection.

"We at Deutsche Bahn see the protection of the environment and the climate as a holistic task and we also rely on the sustainable use of resources in our on-board bistros," said a statement from the group.

The Group also attaches great importance to sustainability when it comes to the origin of its offerings: Both the coffee and tea drinks in the on-board bistros bear the Fairtrade seal, which stands for fairly grown and traded products.

The “supermarket train” has been rolling through Hessen * for a few weeks now.

With this project too, Deutsche Bahn wants to campaign for ecological and fair trade products.
