Chairman of the "Reznik Committee" and former director general of the Ministry of Construction and Housing, Hagai Reznik, recommends to Defense Minister Bnei Gantz significant benefits and relief in housing for IDF disabled and mentally handicapped soldiers.
Resnik, who serves as chairman of the housing committee as part of the "One Soul" reform, recommended, among other things, the following benefits:
• Doubling the amounts of grants for the purchase of apartments, increasing the loans and the mechanism for assisting with rent for IDF disabled people.
• Providing assistance for renovations and adjustments not as a one-time event but in accordance with a medical need.
• Increasing the supply of land tenders for IDF disabled persons in the framework of cooperation with the Israel Land Authority.
• Facilitation of mortgage insurance and recognition of loans from the Rehabilitation Division as equity.
• Action to facilitate and exempt from the permit in planning and licensing procedures for means of accessibility for the disabled.
• A series of recommendations for simplifying bureaucracy when applying and discussing disability applications as part of updating the provisions of the Rehabilitation Division.
Reznik's report, which is spread over 100 pages, was submitted last Thursday to the Director General of the Ministry of Defense, Maj. Gen. (Res.) Amir Eshel, and to the Minister of Defense, Bnei Gantz.

In the summary of the report, Reznik wrote that "the optimal treatment of IDF disabled people is without a doubt the most desirable thing to do in reverence, in light of the heavy price they and their families paid in defending the state. The "Resnik Committee" was appointed last August by the director general of the Ministry of Defense, as part of the "One Soul" reform led by Defense Minister Ganz and the director general of his ministry, Eshel, and with the support of the IDF Disabled Organization led by Idan Kleinman.
The establishment of the committee was also accompanied by Capt. (Res.) Ziv Shilon and appraiser Ohad Danos.
The committee included, among others, representatives from the IDF Disabled People's Organization, the Rehabilitation Division, the Families Division, the Ministry of Finance and public representatives.
As part of her deliberations, representatives of the Ministry of Construction and Housing, the Israel Land Administration, the Planning Administration, the Supervisor of Banks and the Supervisor of Insurance and the Capital Market were summoned to the Ministry of Finance.
In addition, the committee held a public participation in which more than fifty IDF disabled people participated.
