Latakia-SANA
The Directorate of Agriculture in Lattakia continued its program to provide free compensatory plantings and help in uprooting dead trees by means of its mechanisms to farmers affected by the fires that occurred in October of last year.
The directorate asked every farmer who has lands that were exposed to fire during the specified period and is registered with the Lattakia Agriculture Directorate records that he is affected to submit an application to the district department to which he belongs, stating his needs starting today and for a period of 15 days.
The Director of Agriculture, Engineer Basem Doba, explained that a committee from the directorate will inspect the ground and match the farmers’ request, provided that approval is made according to the actual need, pointing out that the first fruits will be sent to the land according to the need approved by the detection committee.
Doba indicated that the directorate will grant the planting according to the number of holes dug in the ground, and the responsibility of the detection committee, after planting, will organize a report from the extension unit, according to which the planting process will be confirmed.
Doba stressed that farmers do not bear any financial burdens as a result of the inspections, as they are carried out by the directorate’s cadres and its mechanisms, and the planting will be free, including excavation and removal of dead trees in the early days.
