The Hessian sees at least two party problems.

Frankfurt am Main / Berlin - Now it's official: The Greens MP Omid Nouripour wants to succeed Robert Habeck as the male part of the party dual leadership.

On Monday (January 3rd), Nouripour published his application documents for the Green Party Congress on January 28th and 29th: “I have now officially applied for the most beautiful job in the world!” He said in a tweet.

In the two-page letter of application to the delegates, Nouripour names some of the tasks that he believes are burning tasks for the eco-party - and positions himself as a prominent internal party voice on several issues.

Already at the weekend, the Hessian had announced a changed course in the event of an election victory.

Greens: Habeck successor candidate Nouripour demands "admission" - and new structures

Nouripour now indirectly reprimanded errors in the federal election campaign. The party must "honestly admit that we had hoped for more from this federal election," he writes. A "processing" is necessary; possibly also an "adjustment" in the party structures. On this point, however, Nouripour avoided open criticism of his predecessors Habeck and Annalena Baerbock: The structures "could not have changed so quickly with the rapidly increasing number of members".

At the top of the party, Nouripour says he wants to ensure that “members can continue to be heard and let their ideas flow”.

It is important to promote competition for the best solutions.

In the case of the Greens, there had recently been isolated displeasure with the decisions made in the leadership circle - but more in terms of personnel, for example in the castling of the party leaders in the Vice Chancellor Freestyle or in the selection of ministers.

Nouripour wrote that he wanted to take on responsibility “as a team” to ensure that Green issues were brought into the government, but that the members of the government were also conveyed to the government.

He referred to his experience as an assessor on the Greens board during the reign of the red-green coalition in the 00s.

Omid Nouripour wants to become the head of the Greens - and vote for issues ranging from family law to agriculture

The Tehran-born politician also named four specific policy areas as central areas in his application: family and parentage law, the fight against “enemies of democracy”, ensuring mobility in rural areas and cooperation with farmers on the way to “one” Exit from conventional agriculture ”.

Party friend and Minister of Agriculture Cem Özdemir had recently problematized the price of food in Germany in several interviews.

"I would like to fight with you so that in the future it will be even less important where someone comes from, whether a child has two fathers or mothers or how much money the parents earn", explained Nouripour in his application.

Despite "overdue" steps in the traffic light coalition agreement, there is still "a lot of work".

The Greens did not want to "change everything in our society," he emphasized.

The former Green Youth leader Ricarda Lang had already announced an application for the dual leadership in mid-December.

Due to her new role as Federal Foreign Minister, the previous party leader Annalena Baerbock is also forced to withdraw from office.

The Greens statutes allow simultaneous offices in the party and cabinet only for a transitional period.
